Conte punctures Chelsea exit talk and provides update on Morata future

Antonio Conte has refused to consider if Wednesday’s Premier League clash with Huddersfield could be his final home game as Chelsea head coach.

The Blues were Premier League champions 12 months ago after Conte’s first campaign in charge, but there has been speculation about his future all season – with many feeling the clock is ticking on his Chelsea reign.

Asked whether this could be his last match as boss at Stamford Bridge, the Italian was giving little away: “I’m very focused on the present, to do the job in the best way for the players and the fans.

“Our job is not simple, it’s not easy. But I’m totally focused on the present.”

Conte also refused to comment on speculation linking striker Alvaro Morata with a move away from Stamford Bridge.

The Spain international has scored only 11 Premier League goals since joining Blues from Real Madrid last summer, with speculation on Monday claiming Juventus had already agreed personal terms with the Spaniard ahead of a summer return to Turin.

But Conte said: “I don’t like to comment on speculation. Morata is Chelsea’s player. He must be ready to play tomorrow and next season. The situation is very clear.”
