Antonio Conte: Not happy at what he saw from Chelsea

Antonio Conte has warned Chelsea not to repeat the mistakes of last season following their home defeat to Liverpool.

The Italian was left reeling by his first defeat as Blues boss after Liverpool ran out deserved 2-1 winners in the Premier League contest at Stamford Bridge.

Dejan Lovren was left unmarked to slot in the opener before Jordan Henderson curled in a stunner from 30 yards to put the rampant Reds 2-0 up at half-time.

Diego Costa halved the deficit but Chelsea could not find an equaliser to leave Conte with plenty to ponder.

The Italian, appointed in the summer, handed a second debut to David Luiz at centre-half but knows he is unlikely to be the answer to eradicating the defensive frailties of last term.

“It’s important to understand that every game is tough and we mustn’t forget last season,” said Conte. “Last season was a bad season and I don’t want to repeat it.

“When you finish the season in 10th place it means you have to work very hard to improve and not repeat the bad season.

“This season the manager, the players, all the people at the club must take responsibility. We win together and we lose together.”
