Arsenal have been linked with Crystal Palace defender Tyrick Mitchell but his contract situation might scupper any deal.
Mitchell, 21, has caught the eye with his displays for Palace this season. The Brent-born youngster has made ten Premier League starts.
A number of clubs are said to be keen but the Arsenal link seems as strong as any. The Gunners are keen to sign a new left-back to provide competition for Kieran Tierney.
Therefore a move for Mitchell makes sense but the north Londoners want to pay as little as possible.
It was thought that the former Brentford youth star would be out of contract at the end of the current campaign. However, the Evening Standard contradict that and suggest he is tied to Selhurst Park beyond that date.
That would mean Arsenal having to pay significantly more to land their man. There are other options open for the club. Southampton defender Ryan Bertrand is reportedly on Mikel Arteta’s radar.
The 31-year-old will be a free agent this summer unless Saints can agree a new contract with the England man. Other clubs would enter the picture if his deal did expire but he is a more experienced alternative to Mitchell.
There is still enough time for Arteta to land the youngster in January but a summer move seems more likely.
Real Madrid youngster an option
There appears to be unrest at Real Madrid and Arsenal might benefit if Vinicius Junior is allowed to leave. The 20-year-old has made 92 appearances for Los Blancos but never been a regular starter.
Game time has been limited this term, with only eight league starts among 15 outings. The man with one Brazil cap to his name seems primed for a new challenge and it may come at the Emirates.
Other clubs have also been linked, with Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain said to be keen. They may be more attractive for the youngster but he could spend the majority of his time on the bench.
