Arsenal join race, as Man Utd employ intermediary to get Bayern deal done
Manchester United are working with an intermediary to get a deal completed for Bayern Munich midfielder Corentin Tolisso, claims a report.
French midfielder Tolisso, 25, looks set to leave Bayern this summer having made only seven starts in 13 Bundesliga appearances.
The Daily Express “understands United are working on a deal for Tolisso” and have instructed former former Paris Saint-Germain sporting director Antero Henrique to broker a deal.
Henrique was believed to be in the frame to become United’s new director of football before Ed Woodward went cold on the idea. Now though Woodward has asked the Portuguese intermediary to work on a deal for United.
According to Le10 Sport, Henrique has already been in contact with the player and his entourage and the Express claim that Tolisso is open to a move to Old Trafford.
However, Arsenal have also joined the race, claims the paper, while Serie A duo Juventus and Napoli and Atletico Madrid have all joined the hunt.
United reportedly attempted to sign the midfielder in January – with Bayern unwilling to entertain offers – but the Red Devils are set to go back in for a deal now that the Bavarians’ stance has changed.
However, Tolisso needed surgery on ankle ligament damage last month and so United reportedly wanted the player to prove his fitness.
