Philippe Coutinho claims there is more of a family atmosphere at Bayern Munich than former club Liverpool.
The Brazilian playmaker left Anfield for Barcelona in January 2018, but his time in La Liga did not go to plan, and he moved to Bayern Munich on a season-long loan this summer – to former manager Jurgen Klopp’s approval.
Coutinho, who has played in three Bundesliga matches so far, will have the chance to make his first Champions League appearance for his new club tonight, when Bayern host Crvena Zvezda.
And despite only being at the club for a short time, he already feels more at home than he ever has elsewhere.
“The first few days they showed me the facilities, I met my team-mates, the coaches,” he explained to Sky Sports Germany.
“Every day I feel a little better, I am very happy.
“Bayern are more of a family than my old clubs.
“I know there’s the atmosphere of Liverpool, but it’s even more of a family here.”
While he is only on loan at Bayern – who have the option to buy him at the end of the season – Coutinho is still making an effort to learn some German in order to communicate with his teammates.
“Thiago is Brazilian and speaks Portuguese. He helped a lot in the first few days, especially in terms of communication.
“German is damn difficult! But I’ve decided to learn a bit. Also a few employees speak Portuguese, that’s what made it easy.”
