Cristiano Ronaldo ‘tempted’ by offer to return to Man Utd, claims journalist

Manchester United have begun talks over a potential deal to bring Cristiano Ronaldo back to the club, according to one journalist.

Ronaldo previously spent six years at Old Trafford, where he scored 118 goals in 292 games. He won the Ballon d’Or while at United in 2008, as well as nine trophies with the club overall.

When he left United in 2009, Ronaldo joined Real Madrid for what was then a world record transfer. He has continued to prove himself among the world’s elite, winning the Ballon d’Or a further four times.

The 35-year-old is now regarded as one of the best players in the history of football. He is still at the top of his game too, having scored 71 goals in 94 games for Juventus since joining them in 2018.

However, despite his efficient record, the Serie A champions may consider allowing him to leave. With a salary worth more than €30m per year, Ronaldo is putting a strain on the club financially.

Therefore, they could sell him at the end of the season. Few clubs will be able to afford him, but Paris Saint-Germain have been linked.

However, according to Christian Martin, who works for ESPN Argentina and Fox Sports Argentina.

Citing “sources in Manchester”, Martin claims United have opened talks with Ronaldo over a potential return in summer 2021. The Portuguese forward will carefully weigh up the offer after being “tempted”.

Juventus open to Ronaldo departure

Ronaldo’s contract at Juventus runs until 2022, so the Italian club will allow him to leave if he asks to.

If he was able to complete a sensational return to Man Utd, he could find himself working under the management of a former teammate in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Ronaldo spent four of his six years at United playing in the same team as the Norwegian, who has since become the club’s manager.

United previously tried to take him back when Sir Alex Ferguson was still in charge, before he retired in 2013.
