Crystal Palace are leading the race to sign AC Milan striker Fabio Borini – although they face competition from Aston Villa.
Borini spent five years as a Premier League player between 2012 and 2017, although he never really hit the heights for either Liverpool or Sunderland.
However, after two years with Milan, the 28-year-old could be set to return to England, after he was deemed surplus to requirements.
The forward’s salary of €2.5m is deemed excessive for a fringe player who does not fit into the plans of new Rossoneri coach Marco Giampaolo, so they have put him on the market for €15m.
However, newly promoted Aston Villa are set to rival them in the chase for the attacker, who scored 16 Premier League goals across his spells with Liverpool and Sunderland.
