Crystal Palace keen on midfielder Juventus want Everton to buy
Crystal Palace are the latest club said to be interested in signing former Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey from Juventus this summer.
Ramsey, 30, is in his second season with the Italian giants. But he has been tipped to return to England this summer, with many clubs said to be keen. West Ham’s name has been mentioned in connection with the Wales international. And now the Eagles are being credited with an interest.
Ramsey spent 11 seasons with the Gunners after signing from Cardiff City in the summer of 2008. He lifted the FA Cup on three occasions while making 369 appearances in all competitions.
But the man from Caerphilly left on a free transfer two years ago to try his luck in Italy.
He made 11 starts among 24 Serie A outings during 2019-2020 and has started 12 league games this term. But Calciomercato are reporting that the Turin outfit may look to cash in and sell him this summer.
He earns an astronomical wage with the Old Lady and it seems as though club officials do not feel they are getting value for money.
Both Tottenham and Liverpool have been linked with the Welshman in recent times. The Reds may be looking for a replacement for Georginio Wijnaldum.
But former Arsenal striker Kevin Campbell feels Ramsey would not be the ideal player.
Crystal Palace still looking over their shoulders
Despite being 11 points clear of the relegation zone after their victory over West Brom, Roy Hodgson is warning his players against complacency in their final nine matches of the season.
Everton are also part of the Ramsey story as Juventus may look to involve him in a deal to sign Moise Kean. The Italian champions are keen to re-sign the forward from the Toffees and will offer them Ramsey as a sweetener.
Kean is currently on loan with Paris Saint-Germain but set to return to Goodison Park in the summer.
Ramsay set for south London?
Palace look set to secure their spot in the Premier League for another season. They have taken 37 points already and are 11 clear of the drop zone.
But it has been a struggle for Roy Hodgson’s side at times, especially without talisman Wilfried Zaha. They have lacked creativity and Ramsey would certainly help in that regard.
His next destination will depend on the ambition he still holds. Palace would seem a safe bet, without the pressure of pushing for a top-four spot.
A move to Liverpool or Spurs would certainly see him in the thick of any battle for honours.
David Moyes also needs more creativity in midfield. The Hammers are solid but, like Palace, need someone with class to unlock defences.
Things may not have worked out as Ramsay planned in Italy but it appears as though he is still in demand.
