Crystal Palace are reportedly interested in Inter Milan forward Gabriel ‘Gabigol’ Barbosa.
Italian media outlet PassionInter report there is interest from England in the Inter owned striker, who is on loan with Flamengo in Brazil.
Gabigol has been brilliant for the Brazilian top-flight side scoring 23 goals and provided five assists in 28 appearances across all competitions.
The 23-year-old Brazilian has revived his career in his homeland and Calciomercato.com report the attacker be on the “rampage” and say he has a price tag of €30million.
The Italian outlet claims Inter are willing to sell Gabigol, who flopped with the Nerazzurri, although new head coach Antonio Conte may decide to recall the player to their training camp in January before a final decision is made on his future.
Corriere dello Sport last week reported that Inter have an agreement in principle with Flamengo for the permanent transfer of Gabigol with the two clubs having an agreement based on a €15-16million fee with Inter securing 20% of any future sale.
Palace though may well be prepared to top that fee, especially if they cash in on Wilfried Zaha next summer.
Palace boss Roy Hodgson is looking for a goalscorer with Christian Benteke struggling to make his mark in south London.
“We’d like to score more but we’ve not been a prolific goalscoring team in these two years, but everybody who watches us regularly or knows the club well enough understands that, because apart from a brief period where we had (Michy) Batshuayi on loan, we haven’t really had someone who is a renowned goalscorer in the team,” said Hodgson.
“It’s something I’m sure we’re looking to put right at some stage at the earliest opportunity, but at the moment it’s not going to be easy to do that and we’re going to have to work hard for our goals as a team.”
