Legendary Liverpool striker Robbie Fowler has advised youngster Curtis Jones about how to gain a regular spot in Jurgen Klopp’s side.
Toxteth-born Jones has come through the ranks at Anfield, emerging as a serious talent this season following his displays in the FA Cup.
The 19-year-old netted the winner against Everton in the third round before scoring away at Shrewsbury Town.
Jones was also lively in the replay against Shrewsbury at Anfield, with Klopp handing him two cameo appearances in the Premier League this term.
Alongside Jones, 18-year-old right-back Neco Williams has impressed in the FA Cup and speaking to the Daily Mirror, Fowler explained how the pair could well be set for more first-team action under Klopp.
“Anyone beating Manchester City to the title deserves it,” he said. “And Liverpool will deserve it, absolutely.
“To do it by being miles ahead of one of the great teams puts them up there with a shout of being up there as the best ever.
“The future is bright too. I watched the FA Cup game against Shrewsbury and I saw some talent that can be fed into the first team over the coming two or three years.
“Neco Williams looks a real one. He’s been man of the match in just about every first-team game he’s played.
“Curtis Jones, too, has bags of talent. Like me, he is from Toxteth and, like me, he’s not shy! He has that confidence, he’s not afraid to speak up and say his piece.
“There’s a fine line between confidence and arrogance and, as long as he doesn’t cross it, he’ll go on to have a good career.
“And the thing about Liverpool’s set-up – from the biggest stars to the youth team – the players are always grounded, so there’s no danger of that.”
Liverpool return to action next weekend when they face Norwich City at Carrow Road.
The Reds need six wins from their final 13 Premier League games to be crowned champions.
In other Liverpool news, Monday’s newspapers reported that Bayern Munich are interested in a move for forward Roberto Firmino.
The Brazilian has been a standout performer for Klopp’s team in the past few seasons, despite not reaching the goal tallies posted by fellow attackers Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane.
According to The Sun, Bayern have made Firmino their number one target for the summer and are prepared to pay £75million to bring him back to the Bundesliga.
