Cut-price Man Utd striker target linked with MLS transfer

Mario Mandzukic is believed to be getting closer to a transfer to Los Angeles FC in Major League Soccer.

The 33-year-old Croatian no.9 was linked with Manchester United in the summer and reports suggested Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was going to push through a deadline-day deal for the player.

With United having offloaded Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez to Inter Milan, their attacking options are thin and ESPN claim that United could have brought in the experienced Mandzukic after agreeing a bargain £14million fee.

However, for reasons unknown, United turned their back on the deal.

Now though Calciomercato report that Mandzukic is wanted by LAFC after he fell behind the pecking order to Gonzalo Higuain and Paulo Dybala.

Sky Sport also claim a move to Qatar is on the table for the striker, who has not kicked a ball for Juve this season.

He is believed to be looking for a way out of Turin, but he will have to wait until the European window opens again in January for a move in Europe.

The MLS have also frozen transfers until after the MLS Cup in November, so Mandzukic would not be able to play in MLS until the start of the 2020 season in March.
