Levy plots huge new contract for Tottenham star Mourinho sees as ‘perfect’

Son Heung-min, Harry Kane Tottenham

Tottenham are preparing to offer Harry Kane a new contract to ward away the interest of two potential suitors, a report claims.

Kane is under contract with Tottenham until 2024, but the club want to protect his future even further.

Reports recently emerged claiming that Manchester City had identified him as a potential transfer target for the summer. City will be looking for a long-term successor to Sergio Aguero, and there has been talk of a £90m bid.

With that in mind, Tottenham must act to keep hold of their star striker. And according to The Independent, they are ready to offer him an improved contract.

Kane currently earns £200,000 per week. The report claims Daniel Levy is prepared to increase that salary even more.

Levy has apparently contacted Kane’s representatives to let them know a new deal could be in the pipeline. However, they have not entered formal talks yet.

The report adds that Man City are not the only club who could try to lure Kane away. After Mauricio Pochettino was appointed as PSG manager, there are fears he could try to take his former striker to Paris.

Those rumours will only increase if Kylian Mbappe leaves PSG for Real Madrid. Pochettino could consider a reunion with Kane to replace him.

Fortunately for Tottenham, Kane is said to enjoy working under current boss Jose Mourinho as well. Therefore, he would be happy to listen to a new contract offer.

Kane wants to fight for trophies

Kane has made it clear that he would be happy to stay at Tottenham as long as they are competing for trophies.

Mourinho seems to have got them back on track to do so. Therefore, he is keen to build on the promising start to the season and ensure long-term success.

Kane has 10 goals and 11 assists from his first 16 appearances in the Premier League this season. His partnership with Son Heung-min has been one of the best in the division.

Naturally, Mourinho is happy with the England captain’s work. In fact, it is said that he views Kane as the “perfect modern centre-forward”.

Hence, Levy is ready to get to work over a new contract for the 27-year-old, which could see him through the rest of the prime of his career.
