Tottenham misfit set to extend nightmare stay as exit deal collapses

Son Heung-min, Dele Alli, Danny Rose Tottenham

Danny Rose’s proposed exit from Tottenham to join Turkish outfit Trabzonspor looks to have collapsed, in a bitter blow for the former England man.

The 30-year-old has fallen completely out of favour under Jose Mourinho in north London. Indeed, Rose has failed to make a single appearance this season.

The left-back was hoping to rejuvenate his flagging career on the continent, with Rose said to have been offered a three-and-a-half-year deal in Turkey.

However, it would appear that Trabzonspor have now pulled the plug on a proposed deal. They are citing the current COVID protocols as the main issue.

“The transfer is very difficult after this time,” club president Ahmet Agaoglu said, as reported in Football London.

“It will cost [take] seven days. Let’s make the transfers we can do [right now].”

Covid protocols set to scupper Rose move

Rose would have to follow strict quarantine guidelines if he did still make they move.

There is currently a seven-day window in Turkey for arrivals from the UK. Indeed, that rule saw a hold up in Mesut Ozil’s switch from Arsenal to Fenerbache.

Rose is comfortably Tottenham’s longest serving player, having joined from Leeds in 2007.

His current contract is due to expitre at the end of the season, meaning he can leave for nothing in the summer.

However, if a move fails to happen before Monday’s deadline then Spurs, in all likelihood, will mutually terminate his contract.

That would leave the player free to join other clubs straight away, with striggling West Brom also mentioned as a potential destination.
