David Luiz explains how he has turned Arsenal career around after criticism

David Luiz issued a defiant response to recent criticism after turning in a huge performance for Arsenal against Manchester City.
Arsenal have reached the FA Cup final thanks to a 2-0 win over Manchester City. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored a brace, but Luiz was equally important with his performance at the back.
It hasn’t been an easy season for the former Chelsea defender, but Arsenal have shown faith in him. And with a cup final now secured, Luiz is excited at the prospect of how much they can improve under Mikel Arteta.
“It was a great result against one of the best teams in the world,” Luiz told BT Sport. “We were humble, we understood the way we had to play and we took the opportunities to score.
“We have to be mature, to understand what level we are in the process. We have an amazing coach but we can’t go from 0 to 100.
“We are improving. The spirit was great and I’m happy for the team because they deserve it.
“All the team defended, it is not just the last line. Everybody has to fight and play every ball 100%. It’s part of the process. We could do more of this in the game so it would maybe be easier.
“The other team is miles away in front of us but we were humble so when we play we can hurt the opponent and we did that.”
“FOOTBALL IS ABOUT SURVIVING”
Asked further about how he has responded to the criticism he has faced recently, Luiz accepted that it is part and parcel of the game.
The Brazilian was sent off the last time he played against City, after which he took responsibility and proved himself a senior figure, even if his performance left something to be desired.
Now, Luiz says that he has been working hard ever since to try and improve – and it clearly paid off, as this time he played much better.
“It is part of the football,” Luiz said of the criticism. “I understood that football is about surviving.
“Every day you are going to defend the odd thing. I was working hard every single day after my mistakes. I was humble to work more and to work more for the team.
“We have a final to play this season and we will try and win a title for this club because this club deserves to win a trophy.”
