Moyes names terms in response to Everton, West Ham interest

David Moyes will only take over at Everton or West Ham if he is given assurances over a long-term contract, according to a report.

Both clubs are said to be considering their options, with the Toffees in 16th in the Premier League table having lost to Norwich last Saturday and the Hammers without a win in any competition in over two months.

One previous report indicated that Moyes was the initial clear favourite to take over at Everton should Marco Silva be sacked and, according to The Sun, West Ham now have the Scotsman on their radar.

The newspaper states, however, that Moyes is insistent on being handed a long-term deal and assurances that he will not be installed to keep either club up at the end of the season before being disposed of.

The 56-year-old endured such a tenure in his previous spell at West Ham; having been brought in in the 2017/18 campaign to succeed Slaven Bilic, he guided the club to 13th but was not handed any more time and reportedly does not want a repeat of such a situation.

The Sun adds that Moyes is excited by the potential of what he could do at either Everton or West Ham, but only if he is given time to build his own squad and embed his ideas into the teams.

Everton and West Ham return to Premier League action at the weekend with tough fixtures, playing Leicester and Chelsea respectively.

In fact, Everton’s clash with Leicester is the next instalment in a difficult period for the Toffees in which they also play Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester United and Manchester City in the next few weeks.
