De Gea fears force Man Utd to consider swoop for €100m Liverpool target
Manchester United have turned their attentions to a star LaLiga goalkeeper amid fears David De Gea will leave, a report claims.
Reports have suggested that French giants PSG are ready to swoop for the David De Gea, who is holding back on penning a fresh deal while there remains uncertainty over Jose Mourinho’s future at the club.
The Spain stopper’s current deal runs out in summer 2019, although United do have an option to extend it by a further year – something that has so far failed to materialise.
Caughtoffside.com also recently claimed that De Gea’s agent Jorge Mendes could possibly broker a deal to take his client to Juventus.
Now, reports from The Telegraph suggest that United fear they will lose their star stopper on a free transfer and have started eyeing possible replacements.
It is suggested that the Red Devils could rekindle their interest in Atletico Madrid star Jan Oblak, who was strongly linked with Liverpool in the summer.
Multiple outlets reported that the Slovenia No.1 rejected a summer move to Liverpool despite being Jurgen Klopp’s first choice target.
It was claimed that Liverpool had contacted Atleti to express their willingness to meet the €100m exit clause in his contract, but they went on to sign Alisson instead.
AS have also reported that Oblak could be having second thoughts about his decision not to pursue a summer move away from the Wanda Metropolitano, while Marca claim he is pushing for an exit, which could give United further hope.
Oblak however seemed to cool any exit talk in a recent interview: “My future? I hope it will continue like this with Atlético and La Liga. For the moment, I am here.”
