Deal on the table for Man Utd, Man City target Jonny Evans
West Brom boss Alan Pardew says there is a new deal on the table for Jonny Evans to sign at The Hawthorns.
The 30-year-old centre-back is under contract until June 2019, but he has been linked with moves to Man Utd and Man City.
The Northern Ireland international almost moved to City in the summer before the move collapsed and Pep Guardiola remains interested in him.
The runaway Premier League leaders are looking to sign a centre-back this month and Evans and Real Soceidad man Inigo Martinez are believed to be on their short-list.
Pardew though says no bid has yet been lodged for the £20million-rated Evans.
“It’s always the same answer about Jonny. It’s about the bid coming first, because there’s so much speculation,” said Pardew.
“We need to see a bid, and we haven’t seen a bid. All I can report is the facts. Without a bid, Jonny stays here.”
We’d give Jonny a deal no problem. He’s very much aware of that. It’s about the player and the club coming together in agreement.
“I don’t do that side of the finances so I’m not aware how close it is, but would we want to keep our best players? Of course.”
