Deal to be announced as Arsenal win race to sign €25m Liverpool target

Arsenal have agreed a deal to sign a reported Liverpool target in a €25million deal, according to reports.

Widespread reports are claiming that the Gunners have completed a deal to sign Bayer Leverkusen goalkeeper Bernd Leno.

German outlet Sportbild previously claimed that the release clause in Leno’s contract expired yesterday, but Arsenal have managed to strike a deal with Bayer.

The German stopper was reportedly a summer transfer target for both  Liverpool and Napoli, with the Serie A giants agreeing terms with the player but not his club.

Bayer Leverkusen have seemingly made way for the departure of Leno with the recent signing of Lukas Hradecky.

Leno is expected to become the new No.1 at Arsenal with Petr Cech – who has a contract expiring next year – to be relegated to back-up.

Arsenal are expected to pay between €20-25million for Leno, taking their spending for the week to around €50m following the deal agreed for Sampdoria midfielder Lucas Torreira on Tuesday night.
