Odion Ighalo and Troy Deeney: Could be given rest on Saturday

Troy Deeney admits Watford identified September as a crucial period but has warned his buoyant team-mates to approach Crystal Palace with caution.

The Hornets followed up last week’s win over Swansea with a 2-1 triumph at Newcastle which lifted Quique Sanchez Flores’ side up to 10th in the table.

Captain Deeney has told his side to stay focused on finishing a crucial few weeks with three wins, admitting fortunes can quickly change in the top tier.

“We targeted this as being a big month,” the striker said.

“There are teams in and around us that we are playing. Teams like Swansea and Crystal Palace, who have high aspirations of pushing on.

“It has been a good month so far and if we can win all three it will be a fantastic month.”

But Deeney has a word of caution for his team-mates ahead of Palace’s visit on Saturday.

“In the Premier League it can easily change to losing five on the bounce,” he said.

“We must be very careful that we approach the Palace game
