Defender doubtful for Iron

Jones sustained a knock in Saturday’s 2-0 home defeat to Bristol City and was replaced midway through the first half by Niall Canavan.

Baraclough will check on Jones’ fitness but he will be without Garry Thompson and Jim McNulty.

Winger Thompson remains sidelined after being ruled out for up to two months due to a groin injury.

On-loan Brighton left-back McNulty sustained an ankle injury in the recent 2-0 defeat at QPR and looks set to remain sidelined as the Iron begin life after Nigel Adkins following his switch to Southampton.

First-team coach Baraclough, 39, said: “I’ve never hidden the fact that one day I would like to be a manager.”
