Defender faces fitness test – but star duo get Tottenham all clear

Tottenham will hand a fitness test to left-back Danny Rose ahead of the Champions League clash with Borussia Dortmund at Wembley on Wednesday.

Rose suffered a wound to his shin in Sunday’s win over Leicester and will be assessed.

Mauricio Pochettino, talking about Rose, said: “It’s impossible for him to start from the beginning, we need to assess in the morning whether he will be on the bench.”

Harry Kane (ankle), Dele Alli (hamstring) and Ben Davies (groin) are all injured, but there was better news for Mauricio Pochettino with both Eric Dier (virus) and Erik Lamela (back spasm) declared fit to play.

Dortmund, top of the Bundesliga and playing some excellent football this season, have plenty of fitness issues of their own.

Their travelling party to London on Tuesday was without Marco Reus (thigh), Julian Weigl (flu) – Paco Alcacer (shoulder) and Lukasz Piszczek (foot pain).
