Delgado wants English move

The Spanish forward completed a three-year deal at Tynecastle on Thursday after leaving Greek Superleague side Kalloni.

Delgado has arrived in Scotland with a good reputation after scoring seven times in 26 games last season to help his team to an 11th-place finish.

Although he is looking forward to getting started with his new team, he concedes he has made his switch with a view to pursuing his dream of playing in English football in the long run.

Speaking to Sky Sports News HQ the 24-year-old said: “I see Hearts as a great opportunity to take a step forward. I’d love to play in a top league like the Premier League in England. Playing for Hearts will help.”

Hearts will play in the Scottish Premiership next season after a convincing Championship win in 2014/15 which saw them fail to win just seven league games.

Although they were relegated only last year, Delgado is looking to push Robbie Neilson’s team to the top end of the table.

He added: “I think it’s going to be a really good season. We can finish in the top three in the league and qualify for Europe.”
