ONE STEP FORWARD, TWO BACK FOR MAN UTD

Not too surprising a performance, although a poor result. Some of these players were immense against Chelsea and putting most of them out there again against Bournemouth is why we were flat.

The creativity problem isn’t new, it’s been like that for years now. If Pogba is fit and on form we are able to break teams down better, if he’s not, we are reliant on counter-attack. It’s got worse as players like Mata have aged and become ineffective. The next generation of Gomes and Garner, are not ready yet, and may never be, but at least they’re getting game time and we can see where the limited Glazer money should be prioritised in the next two windows.

Mourinho knew this and addressed it to some degree by playing Fellaini and Lukaku, we’ve scrapped that approach but not yet brought in the quality to play on the deck.

Get ready for more games like this…

Jumping on the Solskjaer out bandwagon before the season ends won’t help anyone.

Mike 2005

Ole has to take the blame for us having such a complete lack of creativity within the team and a total lack of available options to save a game off the bench. He had over 6 months in the job to see how bad we were and to determine what was needed before the summer window, and he did precisely f*** all about it, despite also knowing that both Lukaku and Sanchez would be off.

Not only that, since he got the job he presumably had no objections to clowns like Jones, Lindeloaf, Mata and Pereira being given new deals, AND he still keeps turning to Lingard in the vain hope that the useless little wankstain will produce something to save his bacon, even though he hasn’t done anything of any sort for nearly a full calendar year.
To say that Ole is extremely slow on the uptake is putting it mildly.

Mike, our first team being put to the pin of their collar by Chelseas second team was the main story from midweek.

OGS already knew that Young, Jones, Matic and Mata were completely shot as top players; he knew Lukaku and Sanchez were being lined up to leave; and he knew that Andy, Jesse and Fred were a mile from the quality required.
If he didn’t, he should go.

His failure to strengthen midfield and attack is partly to blame for the laughing stock we cutrently are – i.e. the purported biggest club in the world staring down the barrel of an 18 poont gap to Liverpool after only 11 league games.

moral

@moral – That’s the worry for me mate, I’m not at all confident that he did know how bad those players you mentioned really were, despite him seeing them all first hand for over 6 months
That’s a massive indictment of his lack of sound judgement, and a really big problem for us whilst he is still in the job.

MAGUIRE MUGGED, TIME FOR YOUNG TO GO

Why is Harry Maguire (most expensive defender in history) allowing someone to chest the ball 4 yards from goal, then flick it over his left shoulder, swivel and volley the ball into an empty net? First and foremost you never let a striker score a goal that easily, sure it’s a mistake from Wan Bissaka to try and get a tackle in but where is Maguire? You’d never see Vidic all at sea when the ball was in the box.

We conceded a goal early in the season where Maguire was on our left touchline, can’t remember who it was against, but he was stood on our left touchline having just taken a shit free kick. And again I thought, I’ve never seen Nemanja Vidic in that position. A top CB plays mostly in that narrow corridor between the edges of the area and the half way line – occasionally covering a full back. But generally they’re in front of the goal to stop goals happening. When I see Maguire having a shot or hanging just outside the opposition area I think to myself he’s more interested in trying to be a forward player than he is a defender.

happyhurling

Happy, fair points above.
Can I add to this, in relation to the goal, with one of my pet hates from Young (usually) and Shaw (always) is how f****** easily players are allowed to cross (practically pass) the ball into the box from that flank. Today Young and Fred were caught by the bollix.

AWB never lets an opposition player get the cross in from his flank and we need the same from the other flank. Williams has perfected that in the games Ive seen him to date. Its f****** bread and butter defending by a full back. Young is not a natural defender while Shaw is far too lazy and unfit to close down the man and the space.

moral

@Happy i’ve had a few shandy’s since the end of the game but from what i remember Maguire actually has King but then tracks a run he never needed to and vacates the centre leaving Wan Bissaka to go in there. That for me was the worst part of it. He should know as the most experienced and physical defender in the squad that he needs to be the one to cover the danger in the middle. We don’t look organised or have patterns in any of the 3 lines and that has to be Ole’s responsibility. Thought his nuatulent post match interview with BT was also poor. Defeats like that for a Utd manager should feel like someone has just kidnapped your kids

N1xer

Moral – Yeah a friend I was watching the game with was saying that too, everything came down our left hand side. Ash Young has to go ASAP, I’d have Williams over him now in any game.

LIVERPOOL SHOW THEIR STEEL AGAIN

This team is the real deal

What an amazing win

We just keep going. Massive massive result

Sean the Sailor

Quite right Sean, this team is the real deal, every single player.

In our last 4 domestic games, we have come back from behind to get a result, with the decisive goals all coming towards the end of the game.

Let’s hope we can do it the easier way by leading from the front, starting next Sunday

Songman

Yes I’d say Salahs ankle isn’t 100% and is affecting him adversely, either mentally or physically.
What we do know from history is that Salah will come back into form sooner or later.
I’d rest him for the CL game this week.

We arnt playing particularly well at the min but the mental strength is getting us the wins. I just hope we have the same mentality but with a performance to match next Sunday.

gingerlfc

If the difference had been reduced to 3 or 4 points then we would have had great probelm becuse we would have lost the difference of 8 points only in 2 week time.
We need luck but we need to play better against City…

pinezes69

Ginger, I agree salah will come back to form but his form away form home is concerning. He just seems to hide. Mane is our go to guy. Our big match player . We need mo to step up. It I do think his ankle is hampering him. Rest him midweek

I don’t think we are playing to badly at all. We can play better but I thought we were excellent againest spurs and Leicester. It’s in away games we seem to start slowly.

Chasing games is not helping us. Clean sheets be great but we still aren’t conceding to many chances. I can’t remember Alison having much to do in his 3 games back but we have conceded 3 goals

We are in great shape. What a team this is and we can still get better. Nice rest for fabhino yday.

Ox drove us forward when he cane on

Not much more you can say about Robertson. It’s not going overboard by saying he’s one of the best left backs in the world. He can defend aswell as attack. He’s an excellent defender

Sean the sailor

I’d love to see the stats for Salah losing the ball, it’s genuinely frightening how often he gives it away. He probably will get back to form but he needs more time on the bench. It was the right decision to take him off yesterday.

PULISIC REGRET FOR KLOPP?

Can’t help but think now…does Klopp not regret not going in for Pulisic?? The guy has hit the ground running something rotten and we seemed to track him for a long time. Problem for us if we lose one of our front 3, we just immediately lose something and don’t have anyone to come in like for like. Compare with City who had Sane last season…and what a difference he made. I know some might argue it may have upset the harmony in the squad, but one problem for our front 3 when they are fit is they all know they’re the first names on the team sheet because there just isn’t the competition there. And in any case, we may well lose one of them at the end of the season anyway for whatever reason. Can’t help but look on and rue a big missed opportunity there…

Mikus

Pulisic cost money and Klopp with the Americans do not want to spend!!

pinezes69

Fenway have spent 400 million since Klopp was appointed. Penny pinchers!

TIME FOR MOURINHO AT ARSENAL?

I want morinho, I hate him and is smarmy little face but he is exactly what we need.
He is responsible (along with millions) that have made Chelsea so successful. His mentality changed that club and it’s players. We need that type of manager. Only Klopp or pep and possibly Brenda could do that and they are all taken. Get Maureen in let’s get that winning mentality instilled again.
Part of me wants to give emery until the end of season buts it’s clearly not working

Andy C

No you assume wrong i dont want a new manager for the sake of it as it brings no stabillity.

I want Emery out because he is a weak leader. He makes a mess on everything he does.

He did not like Ozil and a call to leave him out. Good and tough call only to hear that he needed the backing of others to do so since some players did not like it. Only to bring him back when his other mess Xhaka had his meltdown. A captain he needed help to pick and that took almost a third of the season.

Then his playing style that shows he is afraid to loose rather than try to win.

He decides Torreira is good AMC based on the Liverpool game. Plays several players out of position. Keeps players who perform badly game in and game out and removes players that are.

So to keep this mess of manager just because he is not capable is wrong.

And NO changing him for Mourinho does not fill me with joy. If we cant get a decent one in then at least remove Emery and have a short term solution for the season that at least tries to win games.

The Oracle

I’m surprised to know how much steam this Mourinho rumour has picked up.Personally,I don’t really care about the Moral side of things here.I don’t really care what has been said and done in the past. The real question should be whether this guy is the right man for Arsenal.

The only upside he has to himself is expereince..in trophies espescially. The downside is I feel he’s failed to adapt to change. He was not the best tactically in the past few years,he use to go to Liverpool, city and even visiting us and concede more than 20 shots at goal. You just can’t put that down to players ONLY.

Truth is this is a far fetched rumour.Historically speaking,he joins clubs with high ambition that are capable to challenge for trophies, but most importantly ones that have an empty chequebook.Arsenal are the neither of those,he’ll know he’ll have a real challenge on his hands here.I just don’t think he’ll even consider taking the job, unless his thinking has drastically changed and he can’t get a job at a really top club like the ones he’s managed.
