Bryson and Whitbread limped off during the first half of the 4-4 draw against Huddersfield with thigh and hamstring problems respectively.

Defender Whitbread was making only his second start in six months after being sidelined by back and hamstring issues.

Hughes had a fitness test just minutes before kick-off at the John Smith’s Stadium after turning his ankle in the warm-up. The midfielder started the match and played 79 minutes before leaving the pitch with a groin injury.

Derby are already beset by injury problems. Leading scorer Chris Martin has missed the last two matches due to a recurrence of a hamstring problem while midfielder George Thorne (thigh) and defender Jake Buxton (back) have been absent in recent weeks.

Steve McClaren’s men are due to spend a few days at a training camp in Spain this week ahead of the trip to Millwall on Saturday.
