Man Utd star becoming disgruntled, as chances of dream exit dwindle

Manchester United have rejected two further loan proposals for defender Diogo Dalot after AC Milan’s initial enquiry, according to reports.

Serie A giants Milan were the first club to come forward with concrete interest in the Portuguese. However United, who want to sell Dalot for a fee, rejected their proposal.

According to Record though, Bayer Leverkusen are also keen but had an enquiry of their own turned away.

What’s more, reporter Fabrizio Romano has claimed (via Twitter) that Roma have added their name to Dalot’s list of suitors.

Paulo Fonseca’s side have asked the right-back to join Chris Smalling, who is soon to complete his permanent move to Italy.

But the Manchester Evening News says that United have also turned down that enquiry. As with a number of their other fringe players, the Red Devils want Dalot to leave on a longer-term deal.

Record (via Sport Witness) adds that Milan are considering going back in with another offer but the newspaper does not state whether it will be a loan, a loan-to-buy or an outright purchase.

In any case, their interest “remains”, with the Italians unlikely to cancel their plans at this stage.

Dalot eager to leave

As for Dalot’s stance on the situation, Record claims that his overriding desire is to fight for game time at Old Trafford.

However, with Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Timothy Fosu-Mensah ahead of him in the pecking order, his chances are bleak.

As such, he “admits” that he needs to find a move away before the transfer window closes on Monday.

Dalot earned a start ahead of Fosu-Mensah in Wednesday’s Carabao Cup clash with Brighton. He impressed, with 78 per cent pass accuracy while creating two chances and completing two crosses.

Meanwhile, Dalot is not the only player whose situation at United remains unclear.

Smalling is, as it stands, on United’s books while several other players are being linked with a move to Old Trafford.

The Red Devils are after a new winger, as well as a new left-back. Jadon Sancho remains their top target up front, with talks continuing with Porto’s Alex Telles.
