Diogo Dalot says he is only thinking about AC Milan while he is on loan there from Manchester United.
Dalot joined Milan on a season-long loan deal from United late in the summer transfer window. It brought an end to his two years at Old Trafford – temporarily, at least.
The Portugal Under-21 international managed just 20 Premier League appearances for United after arriving in England back in 2018. Injuries played their part in hampering his progress.
Now, he has an opportunity for a fresh start in Serie A. Dalot is yet to make his debut for Milan, having stayed on the bench for their win over rivals Inter at the weekend, but was presented to the media on Tuesday.
During his introductory press conference, the 21-year-old reflected on how he had developed at United, although admitting he still has room for improvement.
“When you play at an important club, you take away a lot of experience,” he said. “I hope to bring everything I have learned here.
“Milan and United are two great clubs.
“You can always improve. I’m a player who really likes to work and try to improve.
“I’m trying to keep my qualities, I want to keep this mentality.”
Dalot says ‘head is 100%’ with Milan
While it is far too early to know whether Dalot will be a success in Milan or not, he will have a decision to make over his future by the end of the season.
At the time of the announcement, neither club mentioned whether or not Milan had a formal option to buy Dalot at the end of his loan.
Dalot remains under contract with Man Utd for another three years. However, he admits he is not thinking about returning to Old Trafford just yet.
“When I signed for Milan, I had great motivations,” he said. “I only think of Milan now, my head is 100% here and I hope to do great things, achieving all our targets.”
