Agent of Liverpool, Arsenal target heading for Milan as €15m move nears

Dominik Szoboszlai TEAMtalk

AC Milan are hoping to beat Liverpool and Arsenal to the signing of Red Bull Salzburg star Dominik Szoboszlai this summer, claims a report.

Tuttosport, in May, linked Liverpool with Hungary international Szoboszlai – who has scored seven goals and assisted 13 others in the Austrian league this term – with a report claiming that they are considering a bid.

However, the Reds’ transfer activity is likely to be limited, according to Jurgen Klopp.

The club have already stepped aside in deciding not to compete with Chelsea for the £54million signing of RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner.

“Covid has of course influenced both sides with ins and outs, that is completely normal, and it’s just not likely that it will be the most busy summer in the world,” Klopp said.

“But maybe at a later point in the year, if the transfer window is still open, we will know more. But this squad…look at it.

“It is not a squad you have to change now and say ‘OK, we need this position and this position’.”

Arsenal are also interested in the 19-year-old with French journalist Manu Lonjon claiming they are in talks with the midfielder.

However, The Gunners will have to move fast because SportMediaset claimed on Monday that the Rossoneri are ‘very close’ to signing the player at the request of Ralf Rangnick, who will be the new manager heading into next season.

SempreMilan claim Szoboszlai is on Rangnick’s wish list and they have been in contact with the player’s agent.

His representative recently told Tuttomercatoweb: “Serie A is one of the most likely destinations for him.”

And now Tuesday’s edition of Tuttosport (via MilanNews), has reiterated that the Rossoneri’s main midfield remains Szoboszlai.

Paris Saint-Germain, Arsenal, Borussia Dortmund, Napoli and Lazio are also name-checked by the Italian paper, but Milan are thought to be in pole position for the player.

His agent Matyas Esterhazy is expected to arrive in Milan in the next few days to talk terms on a €15million transfer.
