Man Utd man ‘upset’ at Solskjaer as rift sees star make key decision

Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek is refusing to give interviews because he feels “upset” about his situation, according to one journalist.

Van de Beek has largely struggled for game time at Old Trafford, leading to questions about his decision to sign in July.

Indeed, Ronald de Boer has urged the 23-year-old to consider leaving this month. Van de Beek’s fellow Dutchman insisted that his compatriot should think about his role in next summer’s European Championships.

United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, however, has continually defended the recent addition, insisting that he forms a crucial part of his plethora of midfield options.

According to Voetbal International reporter Suleyman Ozturk, though, Van de Beek’s situation has regressed.

Ozturk told the publication: “Solskjaer would be pleased if he honestly told Van de Beek: I see you as a replacement for Bruno Fernandes. And then as a replacement, not the replacement.

“Now you see that Solskjaer is talking about the future. But what future? [Bruno] Fernandes will play at Manchester United and [Marcus] Rashford too.”

Ozturk also claimed that Van de Beek’s transfer is beginning to resemble Davy Klaasen’s move to England.

The Dutchman moved to Everton in 2017 but struggled to make an impact, leaving a year later.

“I think Donny is also disappointed by this situation and therefore does not want to give interviews,” Ozturk added.

“He is upset about the situation.Whether he is sorry yet? It looks like a Davy Klaassen scenario. Three-minute raid then you think: what am I doing here?”

Van de Beek has played 20 times for United, but his 10 Premier League contributions amount to only 249 minutes.

Berbatov urges Van de Beek action

Dimitar Berbatov is another former player who has spoken out on Van de Beek’s situation.

The ex-United striker said that the midfielder should be “banging on the manager’s door” asking for an explanation about his game time.

Van de Beek could have an impact in Saturday’s FA Cup clash with Watford.
