Dortmund look at cut-price €30m double deal for two Man Utd targets

Emre Can TEAMtalk

Borussia Dortmund are interested in signing Juventus’ out-of-favour duo Mario Mandzukic and midfielder Emre Can, according to a report in Germany.

SportBild claim the Bundesliga side are keen on adding both players to their squad in January after falling behind in the race for the title.

Mandzukic has not featured for Juve under Maurizio Sarri, while Can has featured for just 170 minutes in Serie A.

Both players have been linked with Manchester United with Calciomercato reporting that Juve’s sporting director Fabio Paratici was in London earlier this month to discuss a move for Mandzukic with United.

Paratici was also sounding out any other potential buyers for the 33-year-old Croatian, with the Italian source claiming Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham were also interested in signing Mandzukic in January.

Former Liverpool midfielder Can has also been linked with United and only last week voiced his displeasure at this lack of game time in Turin.

“I’m still a Juventus player,” Corriere dello Sport (via Football Italia) quoted him as saying.

“Obviously I’m not satisfied with my situation, but I’m keeping my foot on the accelerator and I give 100 percent in every training session.

“I’m trying to change my situation, no player is happy when they don’t play. That’s my situation in Turin right now and I’ll have to think about what makes the most sense to me over the winter.

“I certainly see myself in Turin, but the situation must change.”

Apparently the German source claim Dortmund are hoping to get both deals done for as little as €30million because of the players’ willingness to leave the club.

That price point seems optimistic at best though with Can’s release clause set at €50million.

Calciomercato state that Juve will lower accept a figure of between €30million to €40million for the 25-year-old though.
