Dortmund to slash Sancho fee but Man Utd still facing double twist in tale

Manchester United target Jadon Sancho has reportedly had his transfer value slashed by Borussia Dortmund ahead of the summer window.

The England international winger has had another brilliant campaign in Germany, emerging as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s top attacking target as a result.

But, while the cost of any potential deal has been reduced, the Red Devils will still have to spend big to get their man, according to Dortmund based newspaper Ruhr Nachrichten, via the Daily Express.

The 20-year-old has scored 14 goals in the league alone this season, while also registering 15 assists to boost his side’s hopes of winning the Bundesliga title.

United have, to this point, been told it will take a fee of near £120million in order to bring the youngster to Old Trafford when the transfer window eventually reopens.

Although that is not a figure causing United huge concern, the report claims that with the coronavirus continuing to cause havoc around the world, Dortmund are ready to take a lesser figure for one of their star men.

However, the report adds that the Red Devils will still have to pay a ‘nine-figure number’ as a minimum in order to get Sancho to Old Trafford.

The publication also dismisses claims that Sancho has agreed personal terms with United, as had been mooted earlier this week.

However, Solskaer’s men have been boosted by the news that Chelsea look to have switched their sights away from Sancho and are now closing in on Philippe Coutinho instead.

Sancho was a Blues fan growing up, and there were fears that he could have opted for a move to Stamford Bridge over Ole Trafford, but Frank Lampard is now focused on getting a deal for Barcelona playmaker Coutinho over the line – seemingly giving the Red Devils are free run at Sancho.

Meanwhile, in another twist in the tale, the Express adds that United’s pursuit of Sancho has fuelled talk that Daniel James could be sent out on loan.

The Wales winger, who was signed last summer, was highly impressive in the opening months of the season but his form dipped as the games mounted up and the thought is that he will be allowed to move on loan to another Premier League team to get a full term of top-flight football under his belt.

Pundit backs Man Utd to seal trio of deals and mount serious title bid

Alan Shearer has urged Manchester United to take advantage of the uncertainty in the transfer market this summer and snap up three top targets.

Jadon Sancho, Harry Kane and Jack Grealish have all been strongly tipped to head to Old Trafford when the season eventually finishes, with all three players facing uncertain futures at their current clubs.

Sancho has long been tipped to return to England from Borussia Dortmund for a deal in excess of £100m, while Kane and Grealish could be tempted to pastures new despite their ongoing commitment to current clubs Tottenham and Aston Villa.

Red Devils Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has already spoken of how his club can “exploit” the financial difficulties being faced by some outfits amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, and Shearer thinks that United should make a huge power play to snap up all three stars. Read more…
