Dybala deal under serious threat as Inter trump Man Utd with more tempting swap proposal

Inter Milan are set to rival Manchester United for the signature of Paulo Dybala from Juventus with an inviting swap deal, claim reports in Italy.

Romelu Lukaku’s future at Old Trafford is up in the air, with both the Serie A clubs showing a serious interest in Belgium’s all-time top scorer.

Antonio Conte had wanted him at Inter for before the start of pre-season, but the former Chelsea boss is growing increasingly frustrated at his side’s struggles to meet United’s £80m+ asking price.

Juventus recently appeared to overtake their rivals in the chase for Lukaku, which led to talk of a swap with Dybala. However, the Argentina forward seems reluctant to join United because of their lack of Champions League football next season, and things have taken a fresh twist – as Inter themselves are now entering the race for Dybala.

Conte has identified the 25-year-old as his preferred alternative target following his disappointment in his push for Lukaku, and according to Corriere Dello Sport, Inter will offer firebrand striker Mauro Icardi to Juventus to sweeten the deal.

Relations between Icardi and Inter have been frosty ever since he was stripped of the captaincy in February, with the club going on record several times this summer to confirm he has no place in their plans.

Juventus are long-term admirers of the controversial Argentine, who has scored 111 goals in 188 league appearances for Inter, and has always seemed open to the idea of switching to Turin. Now, that chance finally seems to have arrived.

If the Dybala-Icardi swap did go through, it would essentially rule out either destination for Lukaku, who has played no part in pre-season so far for United.
