Manchester United midfielder Dylan Levitt is closing in on a surprise loan move to Croatia, according to the PA News Agency.

Levitt started the campaign with Charlton, agreeing a season-long loan spell. However, United activated their recall clause last month after he made only five appearances for the League One side.

The midfielder has played twice for Neil Wood’s Under-23s since returning to Manchester. As such, that experience has now reportedly led him to look for a new challenge abroad.

While the transfer across much of Europe closed at the start of February, the market in Croatia remains open until Monday.

Therefore, Levitt has grasped a ‘surprise’ opportunity to find more game time.

United have held talks with first-division side Istra 1961 about a loan deal. Levitt hopes that his game time will help him earn a place in this summer’s rescheduled European Championship.

Levitt, 20, made his senior United debut in last season’s Europa League clash with Astana. However, that remains his only first-team action to date.

Indeed, he has focused on EFL Trophy and Under-23s action since the European match in November. He then decided to move across England last year.

Levitt is one of several United youngsters making a name for themselves both in Manchester and out on loan.

Teenage winger Amad Diallo has announced himself in the Under-23 ranks. Facundo Pellistri, meanwhile, signed for Alaves for the rest of the campaign.

But there are other players who have emerged on head coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s radar.

The attacker has been performing well for their under-23s and there are high hopes for his future.

Solskjaer has explained why the club has decided to promote both Shoretire and fellow academy player Hannibal Mejbri.
