Thomas Partey has pretty much slammed the door shut on a summer move to the Premier League.
The Atletico Madrid holding midfielder has been lined up as a replacement for Ander Herrera, according to a report from CitiNewsRoom at the start of the month.
Arsenal and Manchester City have also been linked with the 25-year-old, who has made 37 appearances in all competitions for Atletico this season.
Partey, a Ghana international, though seems content in the Spanish capital.
“I’ve grown up in Atleti and I am sure I will stay here,” Parety told Cadena COPE.
“I don’t know of another place that will understand how I play like they do here.”
City boss Pep Guardiola is a big admirer of Partey, likening him to former Barcelona and City midfield Yaya Toure, as reported by GhanaSoccerWeb.
City are looking for a long-term replacement for Fernandinho after failing to sign Jorginho last summer, while Gunners boss Unai Emery is also believed to be looking for a central midfielder.
Partey though, if he does change his mind, will not come cheap, as he has a €50million release clause in his current deal at the Wanda Metropolitano which runs until 2023.
