RB Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano has opened the door to a move away from the Bundesliga side, with several Premier League clubs reportedly chasing his signature.

The 21-year-old has been one of the most promising young centre-backs in the world this season and is said to have attracted the attention of many big teams across Europe.

But despite interest from the likes of Barcelona and Real Madrid, Upamecano has previously said it is his ‘dream’ to play in the Premier League.

Speaking more recently to El Mundo Deportivo, the defender said: “As I said, first I focus on RB Leipzig and then about what I intend to do, but there are clubs that love me.

“I will speak well with my agents and my parents at the end of the season. And we will make the right decision.”

Acquiring the signature of the France under-21 international will come at a price, however, with the Spanish news outlet reporting that he has a release clause of €60million in his current contract at Leipzig.

Arsenal have been interested in signing Upamecano for a while but they are likely to face stiff competition from north London rivals Tottenham and Manchester Cityshould they decide to make a move for the player in summer.

The Gunners were reportedly priced out of a January move for the central defender and according to reports in Germany, Upamecano is refusing to extend his contract with Leipzig.

Spurs boss Mourinho, meanwhile, is likely to be in the transfer market for a new world-class defender, especially if Belgian international Jan Vertonghen decides to leave the club in the summer upon the expiry of his contract.

Mourinho was spotted at Leipzig’s goalless draw to Bayern Munich earlier this month and it is rumoured that he was keeping tabs on the defender ahead of a summer move.

City have struggled defensively this season, especially in the absence of Aymeric Laporte and so Pep Guardiola could see the defender as a long-term solution to his problems.

Upamecano has 18 months left on his contract but looks unlikely to put pen to paper for a new deal.

The defender joined Leipzig from RB Salzburg in January 2017 and has grown to become one of the Bundesliga’s best defenders and has been vital to his side’s title challenge this season.
