Angry Wolves fans launched a blistering attack on manager Mick McCarthy for a team selection that showed 10 changes from the weekend and virtually handed Ferguson victory on a plate in the Old Trafford encounter.

United had already squandered a great chance through Wayne Rooney before the striker fired the hosts in front from the penalty spot (30) after an unnecessary handball by Ronald Zubar following Darron Gibson’s cross.

The lead was doubled two minutes before the break when Nemanja Vidic’s header proved too hot for Marcus Hahnemann to handle, while the best was saved until last when Dimitar Berbatov teed-up Antonio Valencia who fired a first-time shot into the roof of the net after 66 minutes.
