Emerson Palmieri could finally return to Serie A in January, with three clubs reportedly interested in taking him back to Italy.
Emerson has fallen down the pecking order at Chelsea following the arrival of Ben Chilwell. With Marcos Alonso also competing for the left-back role, Emerson is yet to feature in the Premier League this season.
There were claims that the Italy international could return to Serie A during the summer transfer window. However, no move materialised.
But a return to his homeland is still very much on Emerson’s mind. While on international duty recently, he admitted he feels more “important” playing for Italy than he does at Chelsea.
After previously representing Palermo and Roma, Emerson could get his wish to return to Serie A in the January transfer window.
According to Sky Sport Italia, there are three suitors for his signature this winter. Inter Milan, Juventus and Napoli all retain an interest in him.
All three clubs were linked with Emerson over the summer, and it appears they haven’t forgotten about him. With his contract at Chelsea expiring in 2022, the Blues could cash in on him in January.
Emerson one of four to leave?
A recent report suggested that Emerson was among four players who Chelsea could sell to raise funds in January.
Having spent heavily in the summer, the club now need to raise funds to balance the books in case they want to pursue any more signings.
With several fringe players unhappy with their lesser roles following the additions of some big names, Chelsea could let them go.
Emerson is one of the four players being tipped to leave – along with two other full-backs.
