Emery keen to continue Arsenal youth revolution by signing 16yo starlet

Arsenal boss Unai Emery is keen to add to his growing list of promising young talents by bringing Scunthorpe United youngster Joey Dawson to the club, according to a report.

Emery has put faith in his young players throughout the season so far, with the likes of Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli and Joe Willock all impressing for the Gunners.

According to The Sun, Emery wants to add to that list with the signing of Dawson, 16, who is the nephew of former Tottenham centre back Michael Dawson and son of ex-Scunthorpe defender Andy.

The youngster made his senior debut for Scunthorpe in the club’s 1-0 defeat to Derby County in the EFL Cup in August, and the newspaper says that Emery wants to add another exciting player to Arsenal‘s youth ranks.

The Spaniard’s policy of giving youth a chance has paid off this season with Saka, 18, scoring once and assisting twice in the Europa League and being handed three appearances in the Premier League.

Martinelli has also impressed, scoring twice in an EFL Cup win over Nottingham Forest and making two outings in the league thus far.

Meanwhile, Paul Merson has questioned Emery’s decision not to give Mesut Ozil more game time, saying that the German can help the Gunners earn vital Premier League points in the coming weeks.
