Key Mourinho man pens new Tottenham contract until 2024

England international Eric Dier has signed a new long-term contract with Tottenham that runs until 2024.

Dier has been at the club since joining from Sporting Lisbon in the summer of 2014 for £4million.

The versatile defensive player has amassed 239 appearances for Spurs, scoring 11 times. He has emerged as an important player for Jose Mourinho since his arrival at the club.

Having played the majority of his Tottenham career as a holding midfielder, Mourinho has used Dier as a centre-back since the restart.

The 26-year-old has largely impressed in the position, despite missing the last four games through suspension, and has done enough to earn an extended stay.

“I am really happy to continue here and commit to this new journey we’re on,” Dier told Spurs TV.

“It’s crazy to think that I have been here for six years now, I have enjoyed it a lot. It’s a fantastic place to be.”
