Erling Haaland linked with blockbuster Man City exit in transfer that will derail Liverpool’s Jude Bellingham plans

The possibility of Erling Haaland departing Manchester City this summer have seemingly taken another dramatic leap forward amid more worrying claims about the Norwegian striker.
The 22-year-old striker moved to the Etihad over the summer in a deal that cost them an initial £51.2m fee. Buying out the clause in his Borussia Dortmund deal, though, was only the first step, with agent’s fees and the player’s wages likely to set them back around £180m over five years.
However, the fee has looked to be money well spent with Haaland quickly finding his feet and blasting in the goals. Indeed, the Norwegian already has 31 goals in 28 games to his name and is the favourite to win the Footballer of the Year.
Despite that, all appears unwell behind the scenes. When he’s on-song, there are fewer better in the game than Haaland. However, when teams managed to shut him out – as Tottenham did on Sunday – questions begin to appear over what he brings to City.
To that end, Jamie Carragher claimed Haaland had moved to the wrong side and was better off signing for Man Utd instead.
And amid criticism of his performances, major cracks are reportedly appearing between the striker and Pep Guardiola.
To that end, a damning report on Sunday indicated a ‘divorce’ between Haaland and City was on the cards.
Perhaps even more damaging are claims that the City boss ‘never wanted to sign Haaland’ in the first instance.
To make matters worse, City face a potentially serious penalty, having been hit by 115 charges relating to their finances.
In the extreme, that could result in a points deduction or even relegation.
Erling Haaland transfer escape route emerges
As a result, reports on Wednesday evening suggested Haaland wants to leave the Etihad with immediate effect. And with a summer transfer away from City now suddenly back on the agenda, speculation has begun to swirl over where he may end up next.
Now reports in Spain claim Real Madrid are ready to reactivate their quest to sign Haaland.
They were hot on his trail last summer when it became apparent a clause could allow him to leave Dortmund. And while his now-passed agent, Mino Raiola, held talks with Bernabeu officials, Haaland decided to move instead to England.
However, links to Los Blancos have never really gone away.
Mundo Deportivo now reports the LaLiga giants are planning a fresh approach to sign him this summer. And as a result of this week’s events, it seems Real president Florentino Perez is confident of this time landing his man.
Carlo Ancelotti’s side will also likely soon have a vacancy in their attack with Karim Benzema nearing the end of the line. Now 35, he has led Real’s attack with distinction for 14 seasons now, scoring 336 goals.
His deal expires this summer and Real, at this stage, are uncertain whether to offer him a new one.
As such, the dominoes appear to be falling into place for an approach to Haaland.
And the report claims the striker would be open to the move if the punishments against City lead to his sale.
Liverpool could lose Bellingham as a result
Incredibly, it is not just City who could suffer as a result. And Mundo Deportivo claims a move for Haaland will also have a positive impact on their interest in Jude Bellingham too.
The England midfielder also looks likely to be on the move himself this summer following his incredible career growth. Still only 19, he will likely command a fee in excess of £100m.
That chase for his signature is seemingly being led by Liverpool. To that end, Jurgen Klopp is doing all he can to land Bellingham, even reportedly offering a job at the club to his father, Mark.
The Reds, though are far from the only side keen on his services. United, City and Chelsea are also reportedly on the teenager’s trail.
However, Mundo Deportivo reckons Bellingham will instead by tempted to move to Madrid and hook up once again with Haaland.
The pair enjoyed a very fruitful partnership during their time at the Westfalenstadion. And the duo remain close friends off the pitch too.
As a result, Mundo Deportivo can forsee the scenario whereby Real land both Haaland and Bellingham this summer. Previous reports have stated Real will also offer BVB Eduardo Camavinga as part of the deal.
The saga of both players is likely to face several twists and turns yet. But with reports growing of Haaland’s unrest, his stay in England may end up being far more brief than originally expected.
