Arsenal have joined the race to land a Roma star this summer, while Barcelona have concerns over Matthijs de Ligt, according to Saturday’s European papers.
ARSENAL MOVE FOR MAN UTD TARGET
Arsenal are ready to meet the £31m release clause of Roma defender Kostas Manolas in order to sign him this summer, a report claims.
Unai Emery is expected to try and reinforce his back line this summer, and Manolas could prove to be a good value-for-money option.
This is thanks to the €36m release clause in his contract, which – despite doubts over how much budget Arsenal will have – seems like a bargain price.
According to Rome-based newspaper Il Messaggero, the Gunner are ready to make an official bid to try lure Manolas to the Premier League.
Manchester United have also been heavily linked with a move for the Greece international as they look to address their own defensive frailties, while Juventus have been credited with interest.
Manolas is under contract until 2022, but if Roma fail to make the top four this season, he will be one of several big name players likely to be sold.
He has made more than 200 appearances for the side from the Italian capital, as well as being capped 39 times by Greece.
