Euro Paper Talk: Arsene Wenger makes personal check on £17.5m-rated No. 10

Arsene Wenger has personally scouted a player, who could be the replacement for Mesut Ozil, and the agent for a Barcelona star is trying to engineer his client a January move to Manchester United or Manchester City, according to Thursday’s European papers.

WENGER WATCHES TURKISH STAR

Arsene Wenger has personally watched Trabzonspor star Yusuf Yazici, according to one of the player’s representatives.

Turkish-Football have reported that Arsenal have scouted the 20-year-old midfielder in the past, and now it has come to light that Gunners boss Wenger has made a personal check on the £17.5million-rated No. 10.

Yazici is represented by Dr Erkut Sogut, but Adem Cebeci is also a representative of Yazici.

Cebeci said: “Yusuf wants to move to Europe, Dr Erkut Sogut has been in talks with clubs and there is interest from the Premier League, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has watched Yusuf in person.”

“Yusuf’s style of football makes him suitable for the top European league, Dr Sogut is in advanced talks with a few clubs but we think it would be in his interests to keep playing first team football at Trabzonspor and developing.

“But things are developing very fast and with the transfer fees being thrown around we can’t rule out a January move.”

Could Wenger see the young Turkish star as a replacement for Mesut Ozil, who looks set to leave next summer when his contract runs out?

UNITED BACK IN FOR BARCELONA MAN AS AGENT FLIES IN FOR TALKS

Manchester United and Manchester City are set to hold talks with Sergi Roberto’s agent over a potential January move, according to reports in Spain.

Mundo Deportivo claims agent Josep Maria Orobitg is in the city until Friday and will speak to representatives from both clubs over a possible move.

Roberto has held talks with Barcelona over a new deal, but the paper believes the two parties are miles apart over an agreement and a move could now be possible.

While Roberto’s preference is to stay at Barcelona, the club’s unwillingness to pay him what he feels he deserves could lead him to move on and it’s claimed both Jose Mourinho and Pep Guardiola will trigger his €40million buyout clause if talks are successful.

Roberto has featured in 13 of Barcelona’s games this season, but is not a guaranteed starter under Ernesto Valverde.
