Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has contacted a January target, while Tottenham have submitted a bid for a Kosovo international striker – all in the latest European papers.

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has been in contact with Adrien Rabiot to try to persuade the Juventus midfielder over a January move to North London, according to reports.

Rabiot, who moved to Turin from Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer in the summer, has struggled to settle in the Serie A having appeared only 12 times under Maurizio Sarri so far.

Recent reports have linked Arsenal with a move for the Frenchman and, according to FootMercato, those links have gone one step further.

The source claims that Arsenal’s director of football Raul Sanllehi validated the player as a target after Arteta fielded the player to him.

What’s more, Arteta then spoke with Rabiot over Christmas Day and Boxing Day for “several minutes”, with the Gunners boss outlining his project to the midfielder.

It is said that while Rabiot would prefer to stay with Juventus, he enjoyed speaking with Arteta and could be persuaded to move across Europe.

Meanwhile, Everton are also reportedly interested in the player.
