Euro Paper Talk: Bale makes mind up over Tottenham return

Gareth Bale TEAMtalk

Gareth Bale has seemingly come to a decision over a potential return to Tottenham, while Liverpool are to hold talks over the signing of a €50m-rated Uruguayan hitman, according to Tuesday’s European papers.

BALE MAKES DECISION OVER REAL FUTURE

Gareth Bale will reportedly snub a potential return to Tottenham and is not rushing to come back to the Premier League.

The Wales attacker is seemingly being pushed towards the exit at Real Madrid by returning boss Zinedine Zidane.

However, the Daily Mirror claims that the 29-year-old is determined not to be forced out without his mega contract worth over £600,000-a-week being honoured.

Bale still has three years left to run on the deal, which is worth a whopping £100million.

The former Spurs star has won the Champions League four times since joining the Spanish giants in 2013 for a then world-record £86m.

However, he was not included in Madrid’s squad for their 3-1 defeat by Real Sociedad at the weekend and has been omitted from their last two match-day squads.

It is well known that Zidane is planning a huge overhaul at the Bernabeu this summer, with the likes of Eden Hazard and Paul Pogba major targets.

However, it would appear that Bale is determined not to brushed aside – although the report goes on to add that if he does leave, the forward does leave he wants it to be to another European super power and not a return to north London.

KLOPP WANTS TO BRING MAXI GOMEZ TO LIVERPOOL

Liverpool are closing in on the signature of Celta Vigo striker Maxi Gomez, according to reports in Spain.

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp is in the market for a new centre forward this summer and has been tipped to make moves for Timo Werner, while a new name was mentioned on Monday in Sassuolo striker Domenico Berardi.

However, Spanish outlet Ovacion Digital claims Uruguayan forward Gomez is the man that Klopp has settled on – with the player’s exit fee currently set at €50m.

Liverpool are looking to negotiate a lower fee with the LaLiga side for the 22-year-old, however, with a clause in his deal meaning he can leave Celta for just €25m in the event of relegation.

And while Celta look as good as safe (they have a three-point and six-goal cushion on fellow battlers Girona with just a game left), it’s claimed they are willing to cash in on the striker in order to help with their rebuilding process and ensure their struggles are not repeated next season.

The player has been watched extensively by Liverpool scouts this season and his form has not gone unnoticed, having contributed 13 goals and five assists in 34 league appearances.

Talks with Gomez are expected to be held just as soon as Liverpool agree a fee, with the report claiming that Gomez would be tempted by the move to Anfield, where he would slot into their squad as a replacement for the departing Daniel Sturridge.
