Manchester United are tipped to rekindle moves for two international class targets in January, while Barcelona have been told where to go by Liverpool after being linked with an €80m-rated star, according to Thursday’s European papers.
MAN UTD TIPPED FOR FRESH MOVES FOR RABIOT, MULLER
Manchester United have been linked with fresh moves for Adrien Rabiot and Thomas Muller amid claims they
Rabiot was strongly linked with a move to Old Trafford over the summer as he ran down his contract with PSG, but he instead opted for a move to ‘free-transfer masters’ Juventus.
However, the move to the Bianconeri has not really worked out as planned, with the Frenchman starting just two matches in all competitions so far with the player battling a long queue of players for first-team action in the midfield.
The eight-time defending Serie A champions have Miralem Pjanic, Blaise Matuidi, Emre Can, Sami Khedira, Aaron Ramsey, Rodrigo Bentancur, as well as Rabiot all competing for roles in the side – and clearly something has to give.
Calciomercato now claims the 24-year-old is already considering an exit route from the Italian champions and could seek a move as soon as January.
As per the report, Rabiot’s representatives have already held what’s been described as ‘informal talks’ with Barcelona over a possible deal in an effort to lay the groundwork for a possible deal.
However, and while the Italian outlet claims Barcelona look the strongest option for Rabiot right now, it’s suggested that United could also come back in for the player and may even try and sign the France international on a temporary deal.
Another long-term United target who looks set to move on this winter is Thomas Muller; the player now said to be “seriously considering” an exit from Bayern Munich after seeing his role in the side drastically reduced.
As per Kicker, Muller is ready to seek a new challenge away in the new year after starting the last five matches on the substitutes bench.
“I’m absolutely not (satisfied with the situation),” he told Kicker. “I am just 30 years old, fit and hungry for success – with the club, but also personally. I am firmly convinced that I can help the team on the pitch.”
German newspaper Bild reported on Wednesday that the forward is fed up with his role under Niko Kovac and could seek a move to the Premier League to reignite his career.
United tried to sign the striker for upwards of £90million back in 2015 when Louis van Gaal was in charge, but a deal could not be agreed and it’s now suggested it could be a case of second time lucky for the Red Devils as they seek to pull their way up the table after an awful start.
