Unai Emery is closing in on his first signing as Arsenal boss, while Juventus are proposing a double swap deal with Manchester United for two Old Trafford stars, according to Friday’s European papers.

ARSENAL CLOSING IN ON FIRST SIGNING UNDER EMERY

Arsenal are reportedly closing on in their first signing of the Unai Emery era.

The Gunners are poised to land Switzerland captain Stephan Lichtsteiner, who is out of contract this summer, having spent the last seven years at Juventus.

The 34-year-old made more 300 appearances for the Serie A champions and has been attracting of interest since revealing he would be quitting Juve.

A deal is not yet done but reports state that negotiations are progressing positively and that the experienced defender will be Emery’s first addition at The Emirates.

Indeed, speaking about his future in April, Lichtsteiner admitted: “I’m playing in one of the biggest clubs in Europe and there’s always competition for places.

“But my future is going to be away from Turin. At the end of the season I’m leaving. I’ll play abroad next year but I’ve not signed anything yet.”

JUVE PROPOSE DOUBLE SWAP DEAL FOR MAN UTD DUO

Italian champions Juventus are reportedly proposing a double swap deal with Manchester United this summer.

It is no secret that the Serie A giants are keen on re-signing midfielder Paul Pogba, while United defender Matteo Darmian has also been on Juve’s radar for some time.

Indeed, Juventus are said to be in advanced negotiations to land the latter, but United are keen on left-back Alex Sandro and forward Mario Mandzukic – sparking talk of a double swap deal, according to Calciomercato (via Sky Sport).

Jose Mourinho is in the market for a new left-back as he prepares to part company with Luke Shaw, while Mandzukic would provide a good foil for Romelu Lukaku and has the ability to play in a deeper attacking role.

The Croatian, along with Gonzalo Higuain, is being tipped to leave this summer – if Juve get the right price for the experienced international hitmen.

Despite returning to form in the latter part of the season, Pogba remains an enigma at Old Trafford and it is thought that Mourinho would still be prepared to cash in on the France star if he can land a suitable replacement.
