Euro Paper Talk: Klopp to use close friendship to poach classy Schalke star

Liverpool will make one signing in January with a €20m Moroccan in their sights, while Man Utd have lined up a swoop for a €40m-rated Swedish sensation, according to Tuesday’s European papers.

LIVERPOOL LINE UP SWOOP FOR MOROCCO STAR HARIT

Liverpool are reported to have lined up a deal for Schalke’s impressive midfield star Amine Harit.

Il Corriere dello Sport claims Reds boss Jurgen Klopp has sent his top scout to check on the progress of the 22-year-old star, who has impressed in the Bundesliga with five goals and two assists to his name from 12 games.

And the Italian newspaper believes Klopp will use his close friendship with Schalke boss David Wagner to secure the signing of the France-born star, with Harit expected to be allowed to move on for a fee of around €20m (£17m).

Liverpool are not expected to be heavy spenders in the January transfer window, given the club are riding high at the top of the Premier League, but it’s claimed Klopp will make an exception to sign Harit, whose progress has been impressive since his move from Nantes in summer 2017.

Harit will have 18 months left on his deal by the time January rolls around and it’s suggested Schalke will consider offers for him before seeing his value dwindle – and it seems that a move to Liverpool could be on.
