Euro Paper Talk: Liverpool, Spurs locked in battle for Stuttgart star

Juventus have joined the list of teams after a Bundesliga star, while Liverpool and Tottenham will face a fight to sign Adrien Rabiot, according to Tuesday’s European papers.

JUVENTUS ENTER RACE FOR WORLD CUP STAR

Serie A giants Juventus have joined Spurs in the race to sign Stuttgart defender Benjamin Pavard, a report claims.

French outlet Le10Sport.com claim that the Bianconeri are the latest to register interest in the 22-year-old after his stellar World Cup campaign.

Pavard is reportedly drawing interest from a number of big clubs, with Barcelona and Bayern Munich also linked.

The Daily Mirror also claimed that Liverpool are monitoring the 22-year’s progress, with a clause in his Stuttgart contract allowing him to leave next summer for €40m should the Bundesliga side fail to qualify for the Champions League.

PSG DESPERATE TO KEEP RABIOT

Thomas Tuchel says he is hopeful Adrien Rabiot will extend his stay at PSG.

The France midfielder is out of contract at the end of the season and so far talks over an extension have not been successful.

Rabiot has been linked with Liverpool, Barcelona, Man City and Tottenham, but PSG will not give him up without a fight.

“I love working with Adrien. He had a difficult situation when he missed the World Cup but his effort has been at a maximum,” Tuchel told RMC.

“He has great potential after being trained at this club. He is essential for our approach.

“It is very important to have footballers of this nature.”

UNITED GIVEN HOPE OF DEAL FOR JORDI ALBA

Manchester United are looking to push through a sensational deal to sign Jordi Alba when the transfer window reopens in January, according to reports in Spain.

The full-back has seen talks over a new Barcelona deal stall in recent days and, according to Don Balon, United boss Jose Mourinho is growing increasingly confident of being able to lure him to Old Trafford in January.

The reports may come as something of a surprise given Luke Shaw’s resurgence in the United side in recent weeks, but the star will fall out of contract at the end of the season and is yet to cement his future to Old Trafford.

Barcelona, meanwhile, have been linked with moves for both Alberto Moreno and Nacho Monreal as they look to plug the gap left in their side by the potential departure of Alba, who is widely recognised as the world’s premier left-backs and has made 250 appearances for the club over his six years at the Nou Camp.
