Euro Paper Talk: £134m Zielinski wanted by Liverpool, Chelsea

PSG have entered the race for a £134m Liverpool and Chelsea target, while a major Man Utd target is ready to pen a new deal at Lazio, according to Friday’s European papers.

Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain have become the latest club to enter the race for Napoli star Piotr Zielinski, according to a report.

French outlet Le10Sport states that PSG are looking to add some firepower to their midfield having never really replaced the likes of Blaise Matuidi, Thiago Motta and Giovani Lo Celso.

As a result, the club from the French capital are ready to rival the likes of Liverpool and Chelsea for Zielinski.

The strongest interest has come from Liverpool, with the Poland midfielder one of the first names Klopp added to his shopping list upon taking charge at the club back in October 2015.

And with Klopp having tracked his progress since, any hopes of bringing the former Udinese man to Anfield could end if he signs a new long-term deal that will set his exit clause at an eye-watering €150million (£134m).

Speaking about Liverpool’s January 2016 interest, Zielinski told Polish outlet Przegląd Sportowy: “Everyone said: ‘Great offer, Klopp wants you, it’s a fairytale in terms of finances’. All fine, but I wasn’t convinced.

“I was driving my car and I said to my girlfriend: ‘No, red light, I’m not leaving’. I felt great in Empoli, I didn’t want to leave the lads when we were battling for the European places.

“My head was a mess. Liverpool finally got a plane and I met with Jürgen Klopp. He said he wanted me in his team. I saw a different world and after returning my head was even a bigger mess.”

N’Golo Kante has reportedly decided to snub interest from French giants PSG and is ready to sign a lucrative new Chelsea contract instead.

The France star was strongly linked with a return to his homeland over the summer, but only recently revealed that he is more than happy with life in west London.

He told Telefoot, after claiming World Cup glory: “There had been discussions with PSG, but the reality is that I am good at Chelsea. When Chelsea told me they were counting on me and wanted to keep me for the future, I did not see myself going against the club. I live good times in Chelsea and I’m starting a new season.”

The Blues are now said to be ready to hand the 27-year-old a new deal worth a whopping £290,000-a-week to keep him at Stamford Bridge.

Kante has flourished in a more advanced midfield role under new boss Maurizio Sarri at Stamford Bridge and has been nominated for the Ballon d’Or for an outstanding 2018.
