JEREMY DOKU SET FOR LIVERPOOL
Liverpool are ‘devising a formula’ to bring Jeremy Doku to Anfield this summer, according to reports in Belgium.
The 18-year-old striker is earning a growing reputation in the game after his breakthrough season at Anderlecht. He scored eight goals and weighed in with three assists from 24 appearances last term. This time around, he already has a goal and an assist in four games.
The hotly-tipped frontman was also handed his senior Belgium debut this week. Doku responded with a goal in the 5-1 trouncing of Iceland.
Now, according to Het Nieuwsblad, Liverpool are ready to follow up on their interest in the player.
Doku was actually the subject of an approach from the Reds last year and before he made his debut for Anderlecht.
However, Liverpool did not at the time following up by making a concrete bid.
Having kept a close watch on his progress though, it’s believed an offer is immiment from Jurgen Klopp’s side.
It’s reported the German is desperate to get his hands on the talented teen and add him to his attacking options.
As such, Het Nieusblad claims the Reds will offer Anderlecht a deal worth ‘tens of millions’ to sign Doku. The deal would reportedly worth €25m to Anderlecht, with Doku being allowed to stay the season in Belgium on loan.
The Jupiler Pro League would prefer to keep him, but the article claims money talks and the offer is likely to be accepted.
