Zinedine Zidane has rubbished talk that an unhappy Real Madrid star will leave this summer, while Roma are reportedly willing to listen to offers for a top Liverpool midfield target, according to Friday’s European papers.
ZIDANE RUBBISHES ISCO EXIT TALK
Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane has rubbished rumours that playmaker Isco has his heart set on a move away from the Bernabeu this summer.
The Spain star, who scored a hat-trick against Argentina in midweek, has been strongly tipped to leave the Spanish giants at the end of the season, despite having a ridiculous release clause of €700million (£614m).
Manchester City have been rumoured to be ready to make a bid, while both Manchester United and Chelsea have also been linked with the player in the past.
Zidane, however, insists that the 25-year-old is going nowhere, telling a press conference ahead of Saturday’s clash with Las Palmas: “What he said is open to interpretation. Maybe he has a different role with Spain to here, but he’s important. I’ve always felt he’s important for this team and it’s only natural a player wants to play more.
“I don’t think I’m an unfair person, but my job is to pick 11 players. He’s an important one and will be an important one, always. As I said, it comes down to interpretation, but I’m not upset at all with Isco.
“It’s not his fault. Whenever he plays he works hard; gives 100 per cent – he kills himself. Sometimes things come off, sometimes they don’t. I don’t think there’s an issue with Isco.
“I’m happy with him. There is no problem. I’m happy with his performances. Isco is a Real Madrid player and he’ll remain here. That’s it.”
ROMA TO LISTEN TO OFFERS FOR TOP LIVERPOOL TARGET
Roma are reportedly ready to listen to offers of around €32million (£28m) for Liverpool midfield target Lorenzo Pellegrini.
Reds boss Jurgen Klopp is looking to revamp his central midfield area this summer, with Emre Can looking likely to leave while Naby Keita is poised to arrive from RB Leipzig.
Liverpool have also been linked with Napoli star Jorginho, but it would appear that Pellegrini could be available for a cut-price fee.
The 21-year-old is under contract in Rome until 2021 but can be sold if any club matches his release clause of €32m this summer.
And Corriere dello Sport claims that Liverpool are still keen to secure his services and are readying a bid for the player.
The arrival of Keita and the potential signing of either Jorginho or Pellegrini cats further doubts over Jordan Henderson’s future at Anfield, while versatile veteran James Milner could also be moved on at the end of the season.
